Greetings GTF Friends & Supporters:
We’re kicking off our 2026 fundraising campaign. Our goal is to raise $125,000 in this year’s campaign. Your donations will help us fulfill our primary mission—growing and supplying fresh produce to the food pantries and food programs that feed those in need in our community. Your generosity also will help us cover rapidly rising utility costs (our second largest annual operating expense), as well as pay for maintenance costs and capital improvements for our farm and our processing facility.
Lack of access to affordable food, and especially healthy food, is a large and growing challenge in our country, even more so in our corner of Maine. According to the United Way of Maine, more than 40% of the households in our county lack the resources necessary to cover their families’ basic needs (housing, food, energy, healthcare, transportation, etc.). Our food pantry clients have seen a steady rise in patronage over the past two years, with almost all that growth attributable to working households who can’t afford to feed their families.
Produce Delivered To Date 2026…
We’ve just begun our third year of full production, and we continue to donate all we grow to our food pantry partners, Loaves & Fishes (L&F) in Ellsworth and the Caring Community Cupboard (CCC) in Old Town. We’re on track to deliver over 8,000 pounds of fresh produce to L&F and CCC in 2026, and since inception, we will have grown and delivered over 17,500 pounds of fresh produce, including 47,600+ heads of lettuce and more than 2,300 pounds of our leafy green product.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished but recognize that our efforts are less than a drop in the bucket in the face of a very, very large nationwide problem. While we hope that you’ll donate to GTF, we also urge you to identify one or more of the many worthy food insecurity organizations in your community and donate to them as well.
